An outstanding experience from start to finish. We absolutely loved the dishes we chose — everything was delicious and full of flavour. The decoration and atmosphere of the place are spectacular, very well done and immersive. On top of that, the service was magnificent: attentive, friendly and professional. As a lovely extra, we met a couple from Mendoza, Argentina, who work there and were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. Without a doubt, we would happily come back and highly recommend this place.
Was really craving Mexican and wanted somewhere central and fun, especially as it was my partner’s birthday dinner. The venue itself is very cool with a great vibe, but unfortunately the food was beyond disappointing. Honestly the worst Tex-Mex I’ve ever had. I ordered the carnival nachos; they looked great but after a few bites i realised they weren’t worth eating. The dish was extremely extremely salty and the chicken was dry and bland, with an overly processed, watery cheese sauce. My partner’s classic bean nachos were slightly better but still very salty and bland. We also ordered a 700ml mango-rita which was very watered down, but the food was the real let-down. We explained to the server that the nachos were inedible. He offered to remake them (fair) which I declined after seeing the overall quality, as it didn’t seem redeemable. He then offered a refund on the one meal (also fair), which we were happy with since we planned to eat elsewhere despite already spending $100. However, he later returned and said THEY DONT DO REFUNDS HA!, and instead repeatedly offered drinks as an alternative. We declined several times as we just wanted to leave and eat elsewhere!! but to be fair, eventually accepted a beer and a vodka cran as there was no refund option. I’m from New Zealand, and despite the great venue and view, this place wouldn’t last a season over there. Very surprised it has a 4.6 star rating.
Here’s a **Google Reviews–style** 5-star review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing experience at El Camino’s Surfers Paradise. The view from the balcony is awesome and really adds to the vibe. I only wish the music was pumped up a little more. Service was friendly and quick, and the food tasted amazing—came out hot and fresh. Overall a 5/5 experience and definitely worth visiting. El Camino Cantina in Surfers Paradise is amazing, the staff were incredibly friendly. We were among the first to try their new lunch menu, and it was absolutely fantastic. The drinks menu has so many great options, and the cocktails were excellent. The decorations are stunning and really impressive; it must have taken a lot of effort to create such a beautiful space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend it.
Had such a great time! The nachos were amazing — super fresh, crispy, and loaded with flavour. The toppings were generous and perfectly balanced. Also the chicken wings with Buffalo sauce was my fave. The staff were friendly, the vibe was fun, and everything came out fast and delicious. Definitely coming back for more! 🌮🧀🔥
