Great genuine Mexican restaurant, with a great tasting experience of home cooked food

What a hidden gem!! I’m disappointed I haven’t discovered this place sooner. Authentic Mexican restaurant that tastes like I’m back in Mexico 🇲🇽🥑👏The WHOLE MENU IS GLUTEN FREE! As a coeliac who loves Mexican food this place is my new favourite. Empanadas were amazing. Menu is also very reasonably priced.

We dined at Mama de Luna in Wilston to celebrate my birthday and it was an absolute standout. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and accommodating. My husband requested a table tucked away from the busy foot traffic, and the team responded with genuine care, making sure we were seated somewhere comfortable, quiet and private. The atmosphere at Mama de Luna was just as memorable as the food. The walls were adorned with stunning Mexican artwork, and the colourful, lively decor created a warm and inviting vibe. Authentic Mexican music played throughout the evening, adding to the sense of being immersed in genuine Mexican culture. The food itself was wonderfully authentic—full of rich flavours and beautifully presented—but what really made the night special was the extra effort the staff put into celebrating my birthday. They decorated my dessert plate with a handwritten birthday message, which was such a sweet and thoughtful surprise. Team members personally wished me a happy birthday, and the warmth of their attention made the whole experience feel heartfelt and authentic. Mama de Luna managed to combine fantastic food with exceptional, personal service, and it truly elevated our celebration. We left feeling appreciated, well-fed, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for both authenticity and hospitality.

Always great food at Mama de Luna! The sopes and empanadas are always a winner. The kids pork quesadilla was great too, Gracias!

It's a quaint little restaurant that has a homely feel. The flavour in the food was good, but wasn't well balanced with veggies. Wait time on the food could have been quicker for what I ordered. Service was average.
